The Museum of Firefighting

The Museum of Firefighting

Although the smallest of all city museums, the Museum has proved attractive to many visitors.

There is a long tradition of fire fighting in Varaždin. The City has been damaged several times by fire. The first Varaždin volunteer Fire Brigade formed in 1864, making it the first in this part of Europe.

The museum houses a number of fire appliances, diplomas, awards and photographs, and is the only permanent Firefighting Museum in Croatia to display artifacts from the rich and long history of Croatian Firefighters.

From the comfort of your armchair, you can walk around the courtyard, ground floor and first floor of the Museum. You can see more information about the 20 exhibited items, while you can find out more about the others on the spot.
