Toplissa Gallery

Toplissa Gallery

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Homeland Museum, 2017, the Toplissa Gallery was opened in Varaždinske Toplice with a special exhibition that shows all the diversity, attractiveness and value of materials in museum collections.

The gallery has a symbolic name because in the letter of King Bela III. from the 12th century Varaždinske Toplice is first mentioned as the settlement of Toplissa. In the year of celebrating the jubilee, the city received a new cultural content that will be interesting to tourists and schoolchildren who visit the Museum's exhibition. It often organizes educational workshops tailored to different age groups of visitors and their affinities.

The museum has objects from the archeological, balneological, ethnographic, cultural-historical, art, numismatic and historical collections, as well as the Hajduk and Čabrian collections.

There are 132 different museum objects on display, which mainly illustrate the history and way of life in Varaždinske Toplice, from antiquity to the present day. A special exhibition unit consists of the first time exhibited and restored graphic sheets of the Way of the Cross, on whose scientific processing for the needs of the exhibition prof. Mirjana Dučakijević worked. At the same time, for the first time in Varaždinske Toplice, after the discovery and restoration, valuable relief plates depicting nymphs are exhibited, and a selection of valuable restored numismatic finds, also from the archeological site Aquae Iasae, is on display.
