Varaždin

In the historic necklace of Central European cities, Varaždin today reveals itself to its guest as a rare urban pearl - a city of harmony and intimacy, a city that shows its specific urban identity not only by the enduring beauty of old Baroque architecture, but also by the warmth of its lovely squares, streets and parks, and above all by its wealth of preserved museum collections. Thus, Varaždin has preserved to this day some of the important features of the Croatian "Vienna", as a city of Baroque, music and flowers - a pleasant resting place for its visitors.

Ivanec

At the foot of the highest mountain of Hrvatsko Zagorje, a small town of rich history, tradition and culture is situated. Due to its natural beauty, the source of drinking water and the diversity of the area, Ivanec was already inhabited in the distant past, as evidenced by numerous excavations in its surroundings, which tell stories much older than those of the 12th century that tell about the St. John's order - knightly order of st. John of Jerusalem, who then settled it. It is in one of their documents from 1396, that the settlement of Sv. Ivan (eng. John) - today's Ivanec, was first mentioned.

Lepoglava

Lepoglava is situated in the idyllic landscape, at the foot of Ivanščica Mountain and near the Bednja River. Lepoglava, which is often forgotten or little known about, is very important for Croatian art, culture, science, history and religion. This is mainly due to the Paulines who founded the first Croatian gymnasium in Lepoglava in 1503, and the Faculty of Philosophy and the first Croatian university in 1656. Here are built magnificent architectural buildings (parish church, monastery) with richly painted walls and equipment (frescoes, altars, organ, church furniture), which are partially preserved to this day.

Bednja

If you wish for the preserved nature and its untouched beauty, visit Bednjan region, located in the northwestern part of the Croatian Zagorje, at the foot of the mountains Ivanščica, Strahinščica, Maceljska and Ravna gora. Vineyards, forests, meadows, orchards and green hills highlight the picturesque area of specific speech, tradition of culture and hospitable hosts. If you come to Bednja, be sure to visit the pearl of Hrvatsko Zagorje - Trakošćan Castle.

Novi Marof

In the southern part of Varaždin County, at the intersection of roads between Varaždin and Zagreb, the region of Novi Marof is situated. With its picturesque scenery and rich historical and cultural heritage, it provides a unique tourist experience to every visitor. Among the slight hills of this picturesque area, famous and renowned painters such as Mirko Rački, Ivan Rabuzin or Franjo Klopotan, were born, and many celebrities, at least part of their lives, tied to the region of Novi Marof.

Varaždinske Toplice

On the northeastern edge of the Croatian Zagorje, in the green surroundings of slight hills strewn with meadows, vineyards, orchards and forests, just above the Bednja river valley, Varaždinske Toplice are located. The natural gift - a plentiful source of thermal water - defined the city, named it, and conditioned the continuity of life and healing of people throughout all cultural epochs, from the time of the Roman empire when the Romans gave them the name Aquae Iasae, to the present day, in which the spirit of a fashionable spa, the modern thermal riviera, is revived.
