Mining industry has got a long tradition in the Ivanec area. The oldest finding site of iron ore is located in the valley of the Železnica creek, with the traces of iron dross, a sign of the primitive iron melting industry in the prehistoric culture.
The iron ore loess was dug under the Holy Spirit Chapel, next to the "Devil's cave", and was used for painting things ochre. "Temni dol" is the finding site of the iron manganese ore, which is confirmed by an abandoned trench and trails of different ores.
