Varaždin County, as the third in Croatia, has introduced the Cyclist Welcome Quality standard. This international system is intended primarily to standardize the quality of service providers for cyclists. Facilities that carry the CWQ standard, based on the criteria they meet, receive stars that indicate the quality of service. The goal is to improve the cycling infrastructure and offer, and to develop cycling tourism in the county, which is currently one of the fastest growing branches of tourism in the world.
As many as 30 accommodation and catering facilities from the area of Varaždin County became part of the Cyclist Welcome network, and based on the criteria they met, they received two to five stars.
